CLEBURNE, Texas – The Cleburne Railroaders have signed RHP Roman Gomez, the club announced Friday.
The right-hander split time with three organizations in 2017 and will begin his fifth season of independent professional baseball.
“Roman is going to be a great addition to our staff this year,” pitching coach Ed Pruitt said. “Roman has the ability to get us into the later innings with his control and longevity. He is the type of setup pitcher that we need to get the hitters off balance for our closer.”
Gomez has pitched for three different teams in Texas, including the Fort Worth Cats. Last year, he appeared in seven games for the Texas AirHogs, posting a 1-2 record with a 3.94 ERA in two starts and five relief appearances. Gomez also pitched for Vallejo of the Pacific Association and Long Island of the Atlantic League last year.
In his career, Gomez has a 10-15 record with a 4.45 ERA in 52 appearances – 35 starts.
The Railroaders open their second season with a three-game series against the two-time defending champion Winnipeg Goldeyes May 18 at The Depot. Season tickets and single-game tickets are on sale now at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
