The Cleburne Railroaders have named Ed Pruitt as Pitching Coach of the organization. Pruitt joins the Railroaders as the First Pitching Coach in their return to Professional Baseball since the early 1900’s which included a Championship Team in 1906. Cleburne has deep roots and history in Professional and Amateur Baseball which Ed has been part of as a native of the area and former Cleburne High School pitching stand out. Railroader President Robbie Fenyes stated, “The Inaugural Season is approaching with great Community excitement and having Ed on the Staff adds to that excitement and commitment to the Community we set out to make”.
Prior to joining the Railroaders, Pruitt has had an experienced career as a player in Affiliated Baseball. Pruitt was drafted as a first pick in the 19th round in 1981 by the New York Mets. Pruitt climbed as high as AA baseball with the Mets winning a Championships in 1984 while positing an ERA of 1.82. Again in 1985, Ed was instrumental in his team’s second League Championship
Ed attended and played at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Since his days with the Mets, Pruitt returned and has been a leader in the Johnson County Community dedicating thousands of hours to teaching young pitchers the proper mechanics of pitching and elevating their talent in the game of baseball. Ed is excited to bring his knowledge to the Railroaders for success both on the field and in the Community.
Pruitt recently commented ". I could not be any more excited when I found out that I was selected to be the Pitching Coach for the Railroaders. I played ball here in Cleburne during my youth and pitched for the High School in 1979, so I have deep roots here. This gives me a second chance to chase a dream and have the opportunity to help others along the way to achieve their dream”
Pruitt resides in Joshua with his Wife Christina and daughters Kayla and Miranda
