K.C. Huth went 1-for-3 with a go-ahead single in the fourth inning, and the Railroader bullpen worked 5.2 scoreless innings in a 2-1 win over the Texas AirHogs at The Depot Saturday night.
Huth's single gave the Railroaders (8-9) the lead for good after Brandon Quintero exited the game when he was hit on the wrist by a comebacker in the fourth inning, and Onas Farfan, Bryce Beeler, Casey Upperman and Winston Abreu all combined to give up just one hit with three walks and seven strikeouts over the final 5.2 innings.
Maikol Gonzalez finished 2-for-4 with a single, a double and a run scored, and Mitch Glasser finished 2-for-4 with a pair of infield singles and an RBI to tie the game in the third inning.
The Railroaders were retired in order in each of the last four innings, but pegged Texas (4-11) starter Michael Freeman for two runs on eight hits with a walk and three strikeouts over just four innings of work in his first start of 2017.
With the win, the Railroaders have now won a season-high three consecutive games and pull to within a game of .500 with a chance to sweep the series Sunday evening at 6:05. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by visiting the box office near the main gate at The Depot.
