LINCOLN, Nebraska -- Oscar Mesa reached twice with a pair of walks and a single, but the Cleburne Railroaders lost 7-1 in the series opener of a four-game set with the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park on Friday night.
Mesa walked twice for only the second time in 2017, but the Saltdogs scored six runs on three separate home runs -- the most Cleburne’s given up in one game this year -- and won for the fourth consecutive time.
Derrick Pyles went 2-for-4 with his third RBI in two games, and Mitch Glasser extended his hitting streak to four with a single in his final at-bat.
Dylan Mouzakes gave up six runs on eight hits with one walk and seven strikeouts over 5.2 innings, but gave up a three-run homer to Brandon Jacobs with the final pitch he threw.
With a short bullpen, Carlos Misell finished the rest of the 2.1 innings, surrendering just a solo home run with two strikeouts.
Cleburne lost its third consecutive game at Haymarket Park, and now sit six games back of the Kansas City T-Bones in the Wild Card race with still some shuffling before the end of the night.
Game 2 of the four-game set is scheduled for Saturday night. First pitch is set for 6:45 p.m., and the Railroaders pregame show will begin approximate 20 minutes prior.
The Railroaders return home on Wednesday, July 26 to open a four-game set with the Wichita Wingnuts. First pitch is set for 7:06 p.m., and tickets can be purchased online at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by visiting the box office located near the main gate at The Depot.
