CLEBURNE, Texas -- Axel Johnson hit a two-out, two-run double down the left-field line, and the Cleburne Railroaders walked off the Salina Stockade, 7-6, at The Depot on Thursday night.

Johnson finished 2-for-5 and drove in the runs after Salina overcame a 5-0 deficit with six combined runs in the eighth and the ninth, and the Railroaders walked off for the seventh time this year.

Maikol Gonzalez walked to lead off the inning, and got to third after Nick Van Stratten laid down a sacrifice bunt but reached on a throwing error by pitcher Tyler Herr. Van Stratten later stole second, and Johnson drove the pair in after Geraldo Valentin lined out and Pichi Balet struck out.

Cleburne starter Patrick Mincey left with a 5-0 lead, and gave up just six hits with no walks and three strikeouts over seven scoreless innings.

In the eighth, Carlos Misell gave up three runs -- one earned -- on a pair hits and one walk.

Balet drove in the game’s first run with a groundout in the fourth and added to Cleburne’s lead with a two-out, two-run single in the seventh. K.C. Huth went 2-for-4 a scored a pair of runs, while Gonzalez walked three times in the leadoff spot.

Salina starter Brian Smith went 6.1 innings and gave up five runs on four walks, and Herr -- on for his fifth save of the year -- gave up two runs on one hit in the ninth.

Game 2 of the four-game set is scheduled for Friday. First pitch is set for 7:06 p.m. and can be heard live on the Railroader Radio Network with pregame starting 20 minutes prior.
