CLEBURNE, Texas -- Mitch Glasser hit a two-out, run-scoring double to break a seventh-inning tie, and the Railroaders held on for a 3-2 win in the series opener with the Sioux City Explorers on Monday night at The Depot.
Glasser’s double came after Alex Polston and Maikol Gonzalez worked consecutive two-out walks to extend the inning.
Sioux City scored the game’s first run in the first inning before Geraldo Valentin drove a two-run double to left field in the bottom-half of the frame.
Cleburne starter Laetten Galbraith gave up a pair of runs on seven hits with three strikeouts over six innings, and Carlos Misell earned his first win of 2017 with two innings of scoreless relief.
Winston Abreu worked around a leadoff single in the ninth for his 15th save.
Sioux City starter Hobbs Johnson gave up three runs on four hits and five walks over 6.2 innings, and after the consecutive two-out walks in the seventh, Glasser doubled on the first pitch from Brad Orosey.
Glasser finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Maikol Gonzalez worked a pair of walks and scored. Alex Polston also walked twice and scored.
Game 2 of the three-game series is scheduled for Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7:06 p.m. and can be heard live on the Railroaders Radio Network. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to first pitch.
