CLEBURNE, Texas -- Maikol Gonzalez clubbed a three-run homer, and the Railroaders finished with 15 hits in a 11-8 win over the Sioux City Explorers on Wednesday.

Gonzalez’s homer was his second in four games, and the Railroaders scored all nine runs in the first three innings to win their first series since July 3-5.

Gonzalez drove in all three runs in the third inning after Cleburne scored five runs on six hits in the first inning and added another in the second.

The Explorers scored three unearned runs in the third, and cut the deficit to two with a pair of runs in the fifth and an RBI double from LeVon Washington -- who finished with eight hits in the series.

Mitch Glasser reached safely three times and scored three runs, and Geraldo Valentin went 2-for-4 with four RBI. K.C. Huth went 2-for-5 with an RBI triple and a run scored.

Cortland Cox earned his fourth win after two innings of scoreless relief with four strikeouts.

Casey Upperman gave up a run on two hits over 1.2 innings, but did work out of a jam with back-to-back strikeouts after the tying run reached second with one out in the sixth inning.

Explorers starter Chris Powell fell to 1-2 after giving up six runs on seven hits with a walk over just 1.1 innings.

With a 14-game homestand now finished, Cleburne heads to Grand Prairie, Texas to open a four-game series with the Texas AirHogs beginning Thursday. First pitch time is 7:05 p.m. and can be heard live on the Railroader Radio Network with coverage beginning 20 minutes prior.

Cleburne returns home for a three-game series with the Lincoln Saltdogs on Monday. Good seats are still available and can be purchased at or by visiting the box office located near the main gate at The Depot.
