GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- Maikol Gonzalez went 2-for-4 and the Railroaders turned a league-high five double plays, but Cleburne had just five baserunners in a 3-1 loss to the Texas AirHogs at AirHogs Stadium on Saturday night.

Gonzalez had two of Cleburne’s four hits, but the AirHogs retired the last 20 batters they faced and closed the gap on second in the South Division to just three games.

All of Cleburne’s season-high five double plays came in the first six innings, and the Railroaders fell one short of tying a league record of six.

Blake Grant-Parks drove in his third run of the series with a single in the second, but the AirHogs answered in the bottom-half of the inning and scored twice in the sixth to snap Cleburne’s three-game winning streak.

Jared Mortenson, who came in with a 1.89 ERA over seven starts, gave up just one run on four hits over eight innings. Cleburne didn’t work a walk and didn’t have an extra-base hit.

Axel Johnson extended his hitting streak to five and scored Cleburne’s only run, and Grant-Parks has hits in six of his last seven games.

Cleburne starter Laetten Galbraith went five-plus innings and gave up three runs on eight hits with five walks, while Will Mathis extended his scoreless-innings streak to five with three clean frames in relief.

AirHogs reliever Rob Tasin recorded his second save of the year, and Levi Scott -- who has seven hits in the series -- went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

The finale of the four-game set and short trip is Sunday night. First pitch time is 7:05 p.m. and coverage on the Railroader Radio Network will begin 20 minutes prior.

Cleburne returns home for a three-game series with the Lincoln Saltdogs on Monday. Good seats are still available and can be purchased at or by visiting the

box office located near the main gate at The Depot.
