SAINT PAUL, Minnesota -- Geraldo Valentin went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored, but the Railroaders couldn’t fully overcome a seven-run deficit in an 8-5 loss to the St. Paul Saints in the series finale at CHS Field on Sunday evening.

One of Valentin’s doubles came in Cleburne’s four-run seventh inning after the Railroaders had given up five in the bottom of the sixth, but the Saints salvaged Game 3 after Cleburne had won the first two.

It was Valentin’s second four-hit night of the week, and the Railroaders finished with 10 hits total. But Alberto Rodriguez gave up a season-high eight runs with a season-high nine strikeouts over 5.2 innings -- both tied for the most runs and strikeouts from a Cleburne starter this year.

Rodriguez also gave up three homers, a three-run shot by Brady Shoemaker and a two-run home run from Nate Hanson -- both with two outs in the seventh.

Former big-leaguer Dan Johnson hit a solo homer in only his second plate appearance with the Saints in the third.

Pichi Balet finished with two more hits and Axel Johnson drove in a run with a single, while Alex Polston drove in a run and scored.

The Cleburne bullpen combined to throw 2.1 scoreless innings, and tossed 7.1 scoreless over the three-game series.

The Railroaders now continue the six-game roadtrip with three games in Kansas City beginning Monday. First pitch at CommunityAmerica Ballpark is set for 7:05 p.m., with pregame coverage starting 20 minutes prior.

Cleburne returns home for the final three-game series at The Depot on Friday, Aug. 25. Good seats are still available and can be purchased at or by visiting the box office located near the main gate at the stadium.
