Geraldo Valentin matched a season high with four RBIs and the Cleburne Railroaders opened the final series of the year with a 16-6 win over the Texas AirHogs on Friday night.
Valentin and Mitch Glasser had two-run doubles and Blake Grant-Parks drove in a pair with a single as the Railroaders topped their previous season high in runs from a 15-1 win over St. Paul on May 30.
Dylan Mouzakes (7-8) ended a personal three-game losing streak, allowing five walks and four hits but just one run in six innings. Three of the walks came in the third inning, but he escaped without giving up a run.
Alex Polston hit a two-run homer for a 16-1 lead in the seventh inning as the Railroaders (45-52) clinched at least a tie for second in the South Division.
The Railroaders broke a 1-1 tie by batting around in a four-run third and a seven-run fourth that matched the highest-scoring inning of the season. Glasser, who scored three runs, capped the outburst with his two-run double as the 11th of 12 batters in the fourth.
Axel Johnson was the only starting position player without a hit but reached three times, getting hit by a pitch twice and walking once. He scored two runs.
Valentin, who finished with three hits, had a sacrifice fly in the third, the two-run double in the fourth and an RBI single that scored the only unearned run in the sixth.
AirHogs starter Mario Mendoza (1-1) walked six and gave up nine runs in 3.1 innings. Three position players pitched _ backup catchers Sebastian Murray and Shelby Ford and starting third baseman Casio Grider. Texas pitchers walked eight and hit four batters.
