RAILROADERS WIN SECOND STRAIGHT SERIES

CLEBURNE, Texas – Michael Pair scored the go-ahead run on a squeeze play in the 7th inning, and the Cleburne Railroaders won their second consecutive series with a 10-8 win over the RedHawks at The Depot on Wednesday afternoon.
Pair’s run came when Alex Polston laid down a bunt with the bases loaded in an 8-8 game in the seventh. Pair reached in four of his five plate appearances with a bases-clearing double as part of a five-run first inning.
All nine Railroaders (4-2) reached and posted a season-high 13 hits. Jordan Dean went 2-for-4 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored in his 2018 debut, while Derek Shomon went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in a walk in his debut.
Patrick Mincey gave up eight runs on nine hits with a walk and a strikeouts in 4.1 innings, while Tyler Wilson earned his first win with three scoreless innings and three strikeouts. With the score tied at seven in the 7th, Wilson managed his way around three consecutive singles with an outfield assist and a 4-6 double play.
Levi Scott scored the game-tying run in the 6th inning on the second-end of a double-steal, breaking for home after Jordan Dean stole second.
Scott reached three times with a double and two runs scored, and Angelo Gumbs drove in his third run of 2018 with a sacrifice fly in the 8th.
Tommy Mendonca went 4-for-5 with a homer and three runs scored, and Charlie Valerio went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and double.
The Railroaders now hit the road for the first time in 2018, starting with three games in Sioux City, IA starting Friday. First pitch time from Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park is set for 7:05, and Patrick Young will make his second start of 2018.
