CLEBURNE, Texas (May 17, 2019) – The Cleburne Railroaders stranded five runners over the final four innings, taking their first loss of the 2019 season by the score of 3-1 to the Sioux Falls on Friday night at The Depot.

Starters Eudis Idrogo and Sam Bragg (1-0) both allowed just one run in their first start of 2019, with Idrogo completing five innings and Bragg making his way through six. The Railroaders (1-1) struck first in the bottom of the first on an RBI double from Chase Simpson, but Sioux Falls (1-1) responded in the top of the fourth with a two-out RBI single from Trae Santos to knot the score at 1-1.

The Canaries moved in front in the top of the seventh, courtesy of a solo home run from Mike Hart that gave Sioux Falls a 2-1 advantage. Mitch Glasser then provided insurance with a two-out, run-scoring double.

Cleburne threatened several times late, getting their lead-off man on base in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings but failing to score in each instance. The best threat came in the eighth, when Angel Rosa appeared to beat out an infield single that would have scored a run, but was called out on a close play to strand two Railroaders runners.

Martire Garcia (0-1) took the loss for Cleburne, allowing two runs over his two innings of work. Ryan Flores earned the save for Sioux Falls, retiring all five hitters that he faced.

The Railroaders and Canaries will continue their series on Saturday night at 7:06, with right-hander Nefi Ogando (0-0, 0.00) getting the start for Cleburne against fellow righty Keaton Steele (0-0, 0.00).
