Cleburne, TX – What a start to the season for the Cleburne offense, as two hitters are recognized for American Association awards early. Kyle Martin earns Player of the Month for May, and Steven Rivas is named Player of the Week for May 26 – June 1.
Kyle Martin is having a terrific start to the 2025 campaign for the Railroaders, and was awarded the Player of the Month in the American Association. In just 20 games, Martin led the league with eight home runs, and 25 RBI. He also produced eight doubles, a triple and eight walks, with a great .333 batting average.
Kyle Martin is no stranger to dominating in the American Association. The last time Martin was in the Association, all he did was hit 31 home runs and drive in 106 runs to set a league record, in 2021 for the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
He had back-to-back games on the 29th and 30th with two home runs and five RBI. He had a total of eight multi-RBI games in May alone. With this very impressive start, Martin has a chance to potentially break his own record that he set four years ago.
Steven Rivas was named the batter of the week for the American Association, the first Railroader this season to be awarded a weekly award. In the week of May 26 – June 1, Rivas batted .385 with two home runs and ten RBI.
Rivas hit safely in all six games for the week, including four multi-hit games. Rivas drove in seven during the three games in Sioux Falls, and he also produced five doubles for the week overall.
Steven Rivas is now third in the American Association with 20 RBI, and also has 11 extra base hits already on the season. He raised his batting average to .297 and OPS up to .910 with his powerful week.
